The challenges to print newspaper

Recently, the speed of technology development is rapid, which brings many benefits to people’s daily life. However, the development brings some disadvantages to the print newspaper. In this week, I will introduce you the main challenges brought to newspaper industry.

Firstly, the appearance of radio posed the treat to the newspaper. People can know the news appeared all over the world through listening to the radio. It means that people can know the things happened around them without going out. So far, radio programs become more various such as radio plays or some radio interviews, which let us be close to things happening in the society more quickly.

Secondly, the birth of TV let people’s life become more colorful. Every day people can watch TV to get the news including national or international programming at the first time. In addition, live broadcast becomes another popular way for people to watch in their leisure time. For example, people in China can also watch rebroadcast of NBA which are playing in America. It is a big breakthrough which can not be imagined in the past time.

Last but no least, electronic online media brings more convenience to people’s life. To be more precise, people can know anything which is recorded in the internet. Besides, people can know the latest information whenever they want and wherever they are. The advantages of electronic on-line media, however, will continue to assert themselves, as higher speeds and lower price.

The appearance of these new tools changes people’s lift and they also become strong competitors to newspaper. How can newspaper survive in such a high-tech age?

  1. In this post, you compared the difference between common newspaper and the internet newspaper, which let the reader can be clear to understand your point of view. And, at last, you gave our reader an open question that whether common newspaper can survive under nowadays's hi-technological era. In my opinion, with the development of technological, many old media applications will be eliminated, such as radio or newspaper. And the internet will substitute in gradual. The function of radio or newspaper is limited. For example, the radio can only be used for listening, at the same time, it also needs to cost a lot. To newspaper, it needs to be paid everyday; and also the outdated one will be as rubbish. It will waste money, and also it is useless to protect environment. Internet can solve everything. It is convenient to search information, such as news or academic articles. So, as a young person, I prefer internet newspaper than common newspaper.

  2. After reading your post, I am quite interested in your analysis between common newspapers and online newspapers. From my own perspective, both of them have their own advantages and disadvantages, and it is hard to criticize which one is better and which one is worse. However, I am a digital native, and I have witnessed so many developments of advanced technology. Online newspapers not only can save money and save time for the reader, but only can decrease the quantity of paper production. It is essential to protect the environment by means of reducing production and deforestation. In addition to that, I want to advocate that it is necessary for young people to read news, and no matter what method they use. An educated and thoughtful people will not be indifferent to national issues. The young people can make full use of online newspapers resources to acquire more knowledge and national issues.
