When we are reading newspaper we can find there are many advertisements on it, which can be divided into two categories. They are business advertisements and public service advertisements. Today I want to say something about the advertisements on the newspaper and give some examples of them.

At beginning, let’s talk about the business advertisements. I think it is an important element for the press of newspaper to make more profit. Of course there are many kinds of business advertisements; I will introduce some which will be found frequently on the newspaper. Firstly, the most common one is the advertisements of some brands; the purposes of them are various. Sometimes they make advertisements to let people know the new products they are going to launch, in which it will show the introduction o f the product. Also, sometime they will public some latest promotion of their company. As well as, some companies will choose newspaper to publish their recruitment information, which is really helpful to the reader who wants to find a new job or job-hopping.

In the next part, I want to say something about public service advertisement. Public service advertisement is one of the important forms of the advertisements, which are aimed at maintaining the profit and enhancing the welfare and treatment of people or appealing people to throw themselves into some public activities such as doing some things regarding charity. And nowadays the press of newspaper will pay more attention to the emergence of the public service advertisement, because it can change people's traditional understanding of the advertisement and it can also help to transfer some important spirit to the public.

Then, I will share you a video which uses a humorous way to show the importance of advertisement on the newspaper to people in their daily life.

The manufacturing process of print newspaper

In my last six blogs I share some different opinions about the print newspaper and online newspaper. Also, I compare the strengths and weaknesses of these two respectively. I guess that people will feel interested about the process of making a newspaper. Today I will introduce you the detailed procedures of a birth of a print newspaper.

Firstly, it should be mentioned that three raw materials are very significant to making a newspaper, which are paper, ink and plate. To begin with, paper is a crucial material to make a newspaper. It should be paid attention that the paper used in a newspaper should be thinner than a normal writing paper. As we all know, people are focusing on the environment protection, and the publication of newspaper also realize this problem so nowadays recycled paper is the most important raw material for the packaging and newsprint grades for the most newspaper. The second one I want to introduce is the ink, the quality of which will be the key for making a newspaper. Normally the publication will use four colors on the newspaper; they are black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Finally, plate is also important; it will be used frequently in order to get the image onto the paper. And the process of making the plates is really completed, which contains many technologic skills.

These three steps are posing the manufacturing process of making newspaper, and another one can not be ignored is the editing process. It should be having some attractive passages and the latest news published on the newspaper, which needs that the journalist to find every day. And the news they find have to be preapproved by the state before they can actually be published. Of course after deciding which passage is useful, he editor should arrange them at a right place, which will be applied correctly. When the editor finishes the arrangements, the newspaper can be sent to manufacture in quantity.

The negative aspects of internet newspaper

The first negative aspect is that some people will have the feeling that when they are reading the internet newspaper they will have to sit at their computer screen as long as the time they reading, also they will feel less patient than reading common newspaper which is in print. Because standing at the computer screen for a long time will let people feel uncomfortable, for example people will fell headache or get eyestrain.

The second disadvantage of internet newspaper is that the online version usually does not have the full paper. It means that people only can read an article in a website. Of course, internet newspaper will cover more news or stories than common newspaper, however, limited article in a website and different type setting will cause that people may miss some articles they really want to read and thus they have to search the content they are looking for. In addition, sometimes you will feel confused the type setting when you are reading online newspaper. For instant, when you are looking for some political news on a website, you have to click the regarding chain. And then you will find the website will be changed to one which only contains the article you want to read. If you want to continue reading political news, you have to back to the homepage and find other regarding articles again.

Last but no least, reading internet newspaper is hard for you to take some notes. To be more precise, if you find some helpful knowledge you want to learn from the newspaper, it is hard for you to highlight them. Whereas, print newspaper can allow you to study more knowledge because people can make a mark wherever they want, as well as, people can keep some articles they think which will be used later.

From here we see that whatever print newspaper or internet newspaper all have their own strong points, which encourage people to read them. So choosing to read print newspaper or internet newspaper depends on your own habits.

The negative aspects of print newspaper

Most of the time, it is a common phenomenon that you have to pay for a newspaper from a shop if you want to get news. However, internet newspaper unlike print newspaper which updates every morning and you can read the online news freely in your daily life. I think it is one of the most negative points of print newspaper, which almost everyone will agree with.

Also, some opponents of reading print newspaper claim that there are too many pages or sections in a piece of newspaper. To be more precise, when they are reading newspaper they do not like to read some content they are not interested in. Thus, they will skip the pages of some section they do not want to read. On the contrary, when they are browsing the website of an internet newspaper, they can choose whatever articles they want to read and ignore the others. In addition, some people hold the opinions that reading newspaper is a way of wasting time because they are not interested in amounts of rubbish advertisements. They think that recently the advertisement occupies more and more pages on the newspaper. However it has become a common phenomenon that more and more publication choose to use advertisement implantations because they thought it is an inevitable way for common newspaper to make more profit.

Of course, it also can not be ignored that publishing print newspaper will cause the environment pollution. 

You can imagine that how huge the production of use of paper to publish newspaper will be every day. The adverse effect on the environment called paper pollution. It has been estimate that by 2020 paper mills will produce almost 500,000,000 tons of paper and paperboard per year (Pope, K.M, 1999). So it is a serious issue which we should pay more attention to, as well as, recycling the wasted paper or reading internet newspaper will be a good way to product the environment.

Recently, the speed of technology development is rapid, which brings many benefits to people’s daily life. However, the development brings some disadvantages to the print newspaper. In this week, I will introduce you the main challenges brought to newspaper industry.

Firstly, the appearance of radio posed the treat to the newspaper. People can know the news appeared all over the world through listening to the radio. It means that people can know the things happened around them without going out. So far, radio programs become more various such as radio plays or some radio interviews, which let us be close to things happening in the society more quickly.

Hello everybody, welcome to my blog. As you can see, the topic of my blog is Internet Newspaper & Print Newspaper. So the emphasis of my research is to find the attitudes of people from different backgrounds towards print newspaper and internet newspaper.

This week, it will introduce the background of my research in the blog.

As we all know that people have stepped into the age of Web 2.0. Specially, there exists many ways for people to get news though the internet. For example, you can use Twitter, Face book, Linkedin etc. to communicate with your friends, classmates. In the traditional world, newspapers, corporations, governments, or other types of leading organizations simply had to give out information, and people would consume it by reading or looking at it.
However, at present the speed of the development of network is amazing. So it is a common phenomenon that many newspapers had their own websites for people to visit such as New York time, financial times and so on. It means that people do not need to buy a newspaper; they can just read internet newspapers.

In addition, newspaper is an elementary way for people to get the news happened all over the world. While, the birth of internet newspaper can not only help people to save money but also bring convenience to people. So though this way people can read the news without paying and whenever you want. However, some people will still choose to buy a newspaper in their daily life, the reasons of which will be researched in the following blogs.
